Expected Cash in Drawer – Improve Z Report Cash Reconciliation
Hello Aronium Team,
I would like to suggest an improvement to the Z Report for daily cash reconciliation.
Currently, the Total Balance combines all payment methods, which makes it difficult to know how much physical cash should actually be in the drawer.
For example:
- Opening cash: $100,000
- Cash sales: +$50,000
- Bank transfers: +$30,000
- Cash withdrawals: −$10,000
The expected physical cash should be:
$100,000 + $50,000 − $10,000 = $140,000
The $30,000 in bank transfers should remain separate because it is not physical cash.
Suggested improvement
Add a separate “Expected Cash in Drawer” calculation:
Opening cash + cash sales + cash deposits − cash withdrawals = Expected Cash
It would also be useful to have a “Treat this payment type as cash” option for each Payment Type. This would allow users to decide which payment methods should be included in the physical cash calculation, without relying on the payment type name or the existing Code field.
The Z Report could then show:
Expected Cash: $140,000
Actual Cash Counted: $XXX,XXX
Difference: $XXX,XXX
The current Total Balance can remain unchanged. This would simply add a separate figure specifically for physical cash reconciliation.
This would make daily cash closing much easier and help prevent cash discrepancies.
Thank you!
