void button not working

Hi David,
To have void permission be applied, order must be saved first. If you are just adding a product to the sale and not saving it, you will be able to remove it, regardless of the permission. Once you have the sale saved (e.g. by pressing "[F9] Save sale"), void permission will be aplied as expected.
One way to have this tracked is by turning Track unconfirmed voided items ON as described at https://help.aronium.com/hc/en-us/articles/208663309-Order-and-payment#h_01HKCYJSXM0G2XY154XGFBS36Q.

You can later have a report of voided items and even make it more secure by requesting a void reason, as described at https://help.aronium.com/hc/en-us/articles/8785775080082-Void-reasons.
