Version 1.23
Version 1.23 comes with some potentially breaking changes for some users.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND CREATING A DATABASE BACKUP COPY BEFORE YOU UPDATE TO NEW VERSION!
Follow instructions at "How to create database backup" article to make sure you have database backup in place.
Custom print templates (receipt, invoice, ...)
Changes in this release affects users with custom print templates. Due to database structure changes, all custom receipt and invoice templates made for previous versions will stop working.
We have provided a way to use default template in case your template doesn't work so users who may have this issue should are not blocked until custom templates are replaced with new ones.
If this change affects you, first time you run Aronium after this update you will be presented with this warning.
How to solve?
If you are using custom print templates, reach out to us before upgrade to 1.23 so we can send you modified templates that works with new version as expected.
Printing barcode in receipt
Many users asked for ability to print barcode on receipt, and we have made custom template for all of them. With version 1.23, you have an option to enable or disable barcode printing in receipt, and it is printed by default.
So, if you were using custom template with barcode printed at the bottom, all you have to do is remove it, and your barcode will be printed using default receipt template.
Printing taxes in receipt
Before this version, default receipt didn’t print 0% tax (default one). From this version, all taxes are printed.
As we introduced ability to assign multiple tax rates to a product, you are now able to remove all taxes from product, instead of using “No tax - 0%” as default one.
How to solve?
If you are not using taxes, you should remove “No tax (0%)” from your products.
If you have too many items with 0% tax assigned, and you are using no other tax, you can simply turn off “Print tax totals” option in settings, under “Print options / Customize receipt” section, as described here.
How to revert to previous version?
If, for any reason, you wish to revert to previous version, you can do that anytime by downloading version 1.22.2.0 from https://www.aronium.com/download/Aronium.Setup.1.22.2.0.exe.
Obtaining database backup
In case you didn't create database backup before running Aronium with new version, we have made sure your data is safe. Aronium will create database backup automatically before applying any database changes. You can find automatic database backup at application directory, as in the screenshot below.
Automatic backup contains date when it was created in file name, so you will be able to easily recognize the one you need, it will be the one created at the time you installed and started new version. You can find instructions how to restore backup after installing old version here.
Save any custom print templates
In case you are using old custom templates, make sure you have safely created a copy of them, as you will need them after you install old version.
Go to the directory where custom templates are saved, by default it is "C:\Program files\Aronium\Templates\user". Copy all files from that directory to some safe place, for example, on Desktop or "My documents" folder so you can use them later.
Installing previous version
After you have your database backup in place and you have moved custom templates out of Aronium directory, you are safe to proceed with revert operation.
First step is to uninstall current Aronium version. Do not delete application settings, just select "No" in the following dialog when asked.
Once you have uninstalled version 1.23, install version 1.22.2 downloaded previously,
Restore your old database backup by following instructions at "Restore database" article on help center.
If you were using custom templates, move them back to "C:\Program files\Aronium\Templates\user" directory as before.
Start Aronium, you should be running version 1.22.2 and your previous setup should be as before.
