single Product with different sale price w.r.t weight

HI

I have a product which has labeled by supplier itself at cost based on weight of that particular piece. (say product XYZ blocks). each block weighs differently.

Now when I enter the product cost price I cannot enter a fixed value for each block (as weight is different). It does not take appropriate values while calculating profits. 

currently I activated the feature of "price change allowed' option for the product and selling by entering the price of each block. so far so good, I put some dummy value as cost price, and left the selling price zero. this for sure affects the profit and margin calculations. 

is there anyway, to rectify this and get correct reports?

by the way this product doesn't attract any TAX. (i.e GST free item)

  Disable "Default quantity" in product settings or use weight scales in settings of application

  thanks for reply. but not clear what you meant.

  for the specific product are you saying to disable "default quantity" ? i did not find "default amount" option for product. But anyway, if you meant 'default quantity', then how does it help? 

  currently i do not have any issue for selling entry. i manually select product change the price for each product unit. if customer purchase 3 units of such product i am entering 3 times, as each price is different. i don't have problem to do it.

  My point is the profit calculations for a period, they will be based on unit price of the product, but the same cannot be entered for the product entry in system

  Hi KKM,

  Yeah, maybe I didn't undertand your situation clearly. I thought that you have some products which you can't sell by the piece...

  If you disable "Default quantity" you can calculate the cost lean on weight. But maybe in your situation it will be useless.
