It may happen that you receive the above error when trying to delete a product. The message reads the following:
Make sure product does not exists in documents and try again.
The reason why you see this message is because a product you are trying to delete exists in documents and cannot be deleted.
This means that if you have any document with this product, no matter if it is a sales, purchase, an inventory count or any other document, you will not be able to delete a product.
I don't want to sell this product anymore, what can I do?
If you do not want to sell this product anymore, you can simply disable it by turning the "Active" option OFF, as in the screenshot below.
Once disabled, product will not appear in the main sales screen anymore, but you will keep entire history related to this product.
Additionally, you can even move disabled products to a separate product group, thus keeping your inventory and product list tidy and easier to navigate.
How can I delete a product?
If disabling a product doesn't work for you and you still want to delete it, the only way to delete a product is to remove it from all documents. However, this can be time consuming and sometimes very complicated, and it is not a recommended action to take, because you are changing your sale history and affecting any previously made reports.
Important!
Removing a product from sales or purchase documents in order to delete it will affect your sale history and previously generated reports, and it is strongly not recommended.
