    Hi Steve,

Can you please share a screenshot, it may be helpful to understand where the problem may be?

    Thanks, Aronium team.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the photo.

It may happen that this customer display does not support (or not set to work with) set of commands Aronium is using.

Aronium is using standard EPSON ESC/POS commands (protocol) for customer display, and I remember we had similar issue with Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) on one IBM device (embedded customer display). The problem was that IBM displays are using different protocol, and it couldn't work with Aronium as expected.

Can you please check with your supplier if this may be the case, or if there is a way to change the protocol it is using?

I have found a row of 10 dip switches inside the display, turning them off results in seeing the expected text although something is still amiss as there is a space in front of it

As you can see, pressing the button a second time makes a real mess of things!

What you are seeing for the first time, these empty spaces in front, are actually two bytes (commands) sent to display:

    1. Clear display
    2. Move position to the beginning of the first line

These two command bytes are not properly handled by customer display (protocol issue mentioned before), so, instead of clearing and positioning the text, it displays non-visible characters before displaying the text.

Pressing the button for the second time (adding new item) has the same effect, instead of clearing display, it just adds new text, resulting in a second photo you've sent.

So, I still believe there must be the way to "tell" the display to use some protocol, otherwise, it will not work correctly, but we cannot help much with this, as we need to have this one in our lab to try it out, and, unfortunately, we don't.

Try consulting documentation or your supplier what dip switches combination can work for ESPON ESC/POS protocol, hopefully, that may help.

It would appear that the wrong escape codes are being sent to clear the display!

    Yes, exactly.

It works with many other customer displays using standard EPSON commands, is there any chance your display can be set to use this protocol?

Changing the dll file was easier than re-engineering the display! It's working now instead of sending form feed vertical tab it is now sending carriage return line feed!

So, just to confirm, it is working as expected now for all items? If I understood correctly, you were able to make it work, correct?

It seems to be working fine unless the length of the product description is over a certain size, how is it meant to behave when the description is longer than the top line?

It should follow the settings for customer display, default is 20.

Try setting correct number of characters per your customer display and see if works as expected after that..

How should it look if the string is longer than the 20 characters on the display? Should it go to the next line or just cut it off?

It should trim the characters so they are printed in the single line. For example, if your settings are set to display 20 characters per line, if any product name is longer then 20 characters it will be trimmed to fit (with ellipsis at the end).

    For example

"Product with a very long name"
    should be displayed as
    "Product with a ve..."

The name somehow ends up after the price on this! Everything else works fine

Hi all. Toshiba POS is formerly known as IBM POS, I am encountered the same issue previously and regret to say the VFD is a non standard Epson/ESC protocol. Suggest you disconnect the power line for the VFD and purchase a standalone VFD customer pole display.
