To access promotions, open management and select "Promotions & Actions" from main menu.
Adding a promotion
On promotions screen, click "Add promotion" button.
New screen will be displayed, allowing you to set promotion properties and define discounts or prices for products or groups.
Promotion properties
- Name
Promotion name is required field. It can be any text that will help you make a difference between promotions. - Active
Only active promotions will be applied in sale. This way you can easily enable or disable a promotion or happy hour. - Start / End date
You are able to control when the promotion becomes active and when it ends. This is set using start and end date and time fields.
Leaving, for example, end date field blank, will result in promotion that will not end. This can be useful if you wish to run a promotion or happy hour e.g. every weekend. - Days of week
You can control on which days your promotion will run. For example, if you wish to run a promotion or a happy hour on weekends, check "Saturday" and "Sunday" only.
Adding an item to promotion
To add a product or product group to promotion, select it from the product tree on the left and click the right arrow or drag & drop item to the right panel.
Once you items or groups are added to promotion, they will look similar to the screenshot below.
You can use percentage discounts or you can set a fixed price to any product or product group you wish to use in promotion.
Products before product groups
In case you assign a promotion value to a product and a parent group, product value will be used, explicit product will always take precedence over product group.
Once you have added all items to promotion, click "Save" to save changes and close the promotion dialog.
Quantity promotion
If you enable "Quantity condition" you will be able to choose promotion that depends on quantity. These promotions will be trigger automatically after required quantity is reached.
Quantity promotions can be applied in two different ways:
- Apply to all
Once required quantity is reached, new item will trigger a promotion which will be automatically applied to this item and all previously added items - Apply to next
Once required quantity is reached, promotion will be applied to a limited number of items above required quantity.
"Apply to all" rule
If you choose "Apply to all" quantity promotion (like in a screenshot above), this means that promotion will be applied on all items in a sale, after required quantity is reached.
For example, once customer buys 3 pieces of "Demo product", discount of 50% will be applied to all 3 items.
This kind of promotion can be used in "Buy three, get 50% of for all three items".
Required quantity
Quantity promotion is triggered after required quantity is reached. As you can see in example above, required quantity is 2, so promotion gets applied with 3 bought items (triggered on 3rd item)."Apply to next" rule
If you decide to choose "Apply to next" rule, it means that promotion will be applied to the "next" number of items only, after required quantity is reached.
This kind of promotion can be used in the following examples:
- Buy two, get one free
- Buy three, get one 50% off
In the example screenshot above, promotion of 100% will be applied to 3rd "Demo product" bought, so, this is how a "Buy two, get one free" promotion would look like.
Limitations
Adding an item to a quantity promotion may change some of the expected behaviors.
Using quantity discounts has the following limitations:
- Price change will be ignored for items on promotion.
For example, if quantity promotion is applied to a product with "Price change allowed" turned on, price change dialog will be skipped and default price will be used.
Editing a promotion
To edit a promotion, select the promotion you wish to edit from promotions screen and click "Edit" button.
